Hello and welcome to Nerissa-Rye. We hope you have a beautiful stay, below are a few things to make it the best it can be. If you need anything message us host@nerissa-rye.com.au

Checking in and out

Our address is 9 Belinda Street, Rye. Please enter via Nerissa St as we are located on the corner of Belinda and Nerissa Sts.

To access the house, the key fob (in leather pouch) is in the lockbox which can be found on the LHS of the carport under the light switch. The code is 1980 - please return the key to the same location after checking out. On the keyring is the leather fob and a key, to open the house simply tap the leather tab on the front door plate, the key is for the rear doors in the living room.

Check in at 3pm, Check out at 10:00am

When leaving please ensure the rear doors and all windows are locked, remove all rubbish and place in bins located next to the carport. If you are leaving on a Sunday, we would appreciate if you could take the bins out onto the street.

Music

Connect to the stereo via the bluetooth connection “TP-Link”. Make sure the input on the amp is switched to “LINE”. We have created a Spotify playlist called nerissa_rye - it’s a collection of our some of our favourite tunes. Alternatively, please enjoy our eclectic vinyl collection - switch to “PHONO” on the amp to play records.

Heating & Cooling

All rooms have their own thermostat and controls, please ensure all heaters are turned off when you leave the house. Also, each bathroom has underfloor heating, which is so nice on wintery days. This can be operated by flicking the switch on the side of the display panel on the wall, it will automatically set to the desired temperature. Please ensure each unit is turned off when checking out.

Fire & Firepit

We love our open fire and know you will too, we just ask that you never leave the fire unattended, just like you would do at home. There is some firewood ready to go in the basket.

Same goes for our firepit, a great place to make s'mores at night. You’ll notice we have a BBQ tripod grill next to the firepit that we love to cook on, we’re sure you will too.  The grill plate is in a round bag beside the BBQ, you’ll need to attach this to the tripod to cook.

Of course, please always ensure the firepit is fully extinguished and never left unattended to protect Nerissa and our beautiful surroundings.

There is more firewood under the house behind the shed for you to use should you run out, but please leave some for other guests to enjoy.

Parking & EV Charging

Please feel free to park in the carport (2 spots) or directly out front (2 spots), but please don’t park on our neighbour’s verges. There are several AC plugs available for EV charging in the carport.

Garden & Security

You may have noticed we have 3 security cameras. One near the front door, one on the carport and one on the North deck. We never have them on when guests are staying so please rest assured that they are only there for security when the house is unattended.

Pets

Unfortunately the property is not suitable for pets at this time.

Things to Do

Check out the EXPLORE section on our website or have a read below for some additional suggestions:

Walk to No. 16 Beach General Store for coffee and a place to stock up on amazing selections of gourmet treats and fresh local produce.

If visiting the wild back beach beaches, please always swim between the flags - we favour the front bay beaches for swimming as the waters and calm and perfect for families.

The entrance to the Mornington Peninsula Coastal Walk starts at No. 16 Beach, turn right for Dimmicks Beach and beyond, left and head as far as you want to Cape Schank, or just hang out on Lizard Rock if the tide permits (low). Keep an eye out for whales during July and August as they are passing by.

Rye Back Shops have everything you need, a bottle shop, bakery, Hunter (best Vegan food on the Peninsula) or if that’s not what you want there are the best hot chips at Dundas Street Milkbar. We also love the food, coffee and curated food offerings at St Pauls General Store in Sorrento.

Head to Hawkes Farm in Boneo for farm fresh produce, or the local markets held each Sunday in a rotating location, see https://www.mornpen.vic.gov.au/Activities/Whats-On/Markets for more info.

If you’re feeling active, we love to Mountain Bike at Arthurs Seat and finish up at Wombat cafe for a (vegan) feast, or choose a hike based on your mood: https://www.visitmorningtonpeninsula.org/Things-To-Do/Walks-Hiking.

Truemans Driving Range is great for all ages to have a casual swing. For those more serious, there are of course a multitude of amazing golf courses in the area.

Surf spots are all over the coast, just look for a build-up of cars in the beach car parks to see where the swell is good.

If you want to unwind, Alba and Peninsula Hot Springs are on our doorstep for hot springs or Spa experiences.

Sorrento has all the shopping you need, the Conti or Hotel Sorrento for a drink - our favourite is Stringers over the road for a wine. We love the IGA in Blairgowrie it has everything you need if you want to avoid the bigger supermarkets.

Or stay local and have a vodka cocktail and a bite from the food trucks at Penni Ave Distillery in Rye.

For the kids, mini golf at Boneo, Enchanted Adventure Park for tree top adventures, hike to Bushrangers Bay, go to the drive-in cinema in Dromana or just simply play in the gentle waters on the front beach.

There is so much to explore with wineries, food stores, and fruit farms dotted all around the Peninsula - have a read through The Ninch for a more detailed guide: https://www.theninch.com.au/

So much to do — or do nothing at all, just light the fire and chill.

Enjoy. x
Your hosts Claire & Scott.
